About Pagendam Pratt Wine Cellars...Pagendam Pratt Wine Cellars is part of the Berkmann Wine Cellars Group, the UK's leading independent agent/wholesaler. We supply the country's restaurants with an unbeatable range, from household names, to the most recherché small producers.
The company was founded in 1964 in order to supply Joseph Berkmann’s group of restaurants with Bordeaux, Burgundy and Beaujolais – this last being so successful that Berkmann was awarded the exclusive agency for Georges Duboeuf in 1972. Duboeuf has since been joined by an all-star cast of agency suppliers, and the portfolio has expanded to over 1,200 wines and spirits from all around the world.
In 1982, the restaurants were sold, and the wine business was set on the path of expansion. While the focus was initially on London, 1987 saw the acquisition of Pagendam Pratt in Yorkshire, giving the north of England access to our portfolio without sacrificing the benefits of local service.
As a family-owned company with roots in the restaurant trade, our goal remains the same as it always has been: to supply wines of outstanding character and typicity that are made to be drunk with food. Our vision is to develop our business and our range without compromising these values, and we choose to work with suppliers who share this philosophy, most of which are family-run themselves. With this in mind, we can afford to be fussy: from the humblest house wine to the grandest of Grands Crus, we make sure we select only the best. After all, life is too short to drink anything else!
