Wines for the King’s Head Hotel Gourmet Evenings 2009:

1st Course:

Red:  Chiroubles, Domaine Desmures - 2007
Desmures in synonymous with affable, friendly, smiling and Chiroubles.  Chiroubles that caresses and cajoles the palate, gracious and high-spirited, often the best of the best.

Or

White:  Pewsey Vale, Gewurztraminer - 2007
With a slight spicy cinnamon/rose-water fragrance on the nose, the floavours of this wine are full of exotic perfumed rose petals.  The palate is rich and textured, finishing long and fresh.

Intermediate:

White: Casal Caeiro, Albarino - 2007
A fresh and highly aromatic wine that exhibits an impressive array of ripe white fruits streaked with salty mineral notes.  It bursts on the tongue with the typical Albarino character of apple, pear and juicy lime and is richly textured on the palate.

Or

White:
Broglia Gavi di Gavi La Meirana - 2008
Fresh and fruity fragrance with a dry almond flavour, perfect complement for fish dishes.

Main Course:

Red: Crozes Hermitage "Les Launes" Rouge - 2006.
The wine has a deep garnet red colour.  It is fruity on the nose with strong aromas of cassis, plums and a touch of violets.  The tannic structure is ample and well rounded, which assures good ageing potential.
Or

Red:
Bodega Norton Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva - 2005
Complex aromas of ripe red fruits and mint, with dark chocolate notes.  Highly concentrated palate with a long spicy finish.

Dessert:

Dessert Wine: Yalumba, Wrattonbully Late Harvest Viogner - 2005
Opulent flavours of apricots, peaches and spice.  Exotic, luscious, long and elegant, this wine is an experience to be shared.
