Having read some of the comments on Late Rooms I was expecting a small, clean, cheery room. What we got was a huge, clean, cheery room with a view of Helvellyn from our window. I'm not going to say which one incase we go back and someone has booked the room!The staff were friendly and thoroughly efficient and the food excellent. As a weeked break it was perfect and couldn't have been better. We are looking forward to returning for a longer stay later in the year - 10 out 10

Booked into Hotel on a Friday evening after walking in the Lake District. Due to the age and construction of the building the room was small but clean and well decorated.
The bar and food areas were busy throughout the evening with a mixture of guests, locals and visitors. Our evening meal was excellent and the staff friendly, attentative and hard working.
Breakfast in the restaurant offered a good choice and was freshly cooked to order.
It is clear to see why the hotel was fully booked for the week-end and would appeal to walkers and people wanting a break away in this beautiful part of the country.
