Being built on the site of the Old School House and Youth Hostel at Legburthwaite near Keswick, is a stunning 40 bed Lodge Hotel. The Lake District Lodge will be opening in the early summer of 2010.Being developed by Sweeney Properties Ltd right in the heart of the Lake District National Park, located just off the A591 & only 5 minutes away from Keswick, this is the latest addition to the Lake District Inns & Cottages portfolio of high quality accommodation.
The design, by local award winning architects Savage & Chadwick, fits perfectly into the beautiful landscape, utilising local traditional building features and materials, whilst having a light and airy contempory feel. This is achieved by a two story glass atrium at the heart of the building and the mixing of cedar wood cladding and local stone work under a Westmorland slated roof.
Company Managing Director Derek Sweeney says: "This is a really exciting project for us as it will add to our ability to cater for another sector of our clientele who are looking for high quality accommodation but do not want the full range of services provided by our Inns. For those guests who do want full bar and dining facilities our King's Head Hotel & Inn is just minutes away, which has both a fine dining restaurant and gastro bar food dining room, as well as a shop selling local gastronomic specialities and gifts. All these facilities are available to residents of The Lodge. Transfers between The Lodge and the King's Head will be included in the rates."
The accommodation will be all en-suite with satellite TV, full range of internet access including broadband and wifi. The residents lounge has breathtaking views and has a feature fireplace with real fire.
Conference facilities for up to 20 delegates are available. Parking is available on site with storage facilities for bikes, canoes and outdoor equipment.
Rates include continental breakfast and transfers between The Lodge and The King's Head Hotel.
